Rehydrate Quickly with These Five Tips

If you have landed up on this page, before going further, a gentle reminder: Drink water.

Well, this seems like a bit of very basic advice, to drink water now and then. I mean, you must have heard it n number of times a day from your elders as well.

Water is literally the core of how your body functions. It is one of the most essential nutrients and serves as an all-rounder when it comes to keeping yourself healthy.

When the body lacks the optimum amount of water, the condition is termed dehydration followed by headache, dizziness, nausea, fatigue, and even serious medical conditions.

Your body, when dehydrated, needs a quick boost of fluid and electrolytes for rehydration. Most of the time, there are ways we might not know which can help us rehydrate fast and effectively. Here are the top 5 tips as to how you can rehydrate quickly

Keep a track of your water intake

Sometimes, it happens that we are so busy that we forget to keep track of how much water we are drinking. Try keeping a track record of your water intake. You can also keep an app on your phone to remind yourself. Keep a water bottle with you at all times so that you do not miss out on sipping water regularly.

Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables

Fruits and vegetables are rich in nutrients like vitamins and minerals which provide immunity and also help to maintain electrolyte levels. These are also rich in water so jackpot! You need not sip on water all the time. Fruits and veggies would work out great for you. Prefer cucumbers, watermelon, pomegranates, oranges, etc. to rejuvenate yourself and your fluid-electrolyte balance.

Choose beverages other than water

Plain water, no doubt, is one of the best sources of hydration. But sometimes, you need more than just water. You can resort to coconut water, milk, herbal tea, fruit juices, soup, etc. to get the optimum amount of electrolytes as well as balance your fluid levels.

Monitor your alcohol or caffeine intake

Too much alcohol or caffeine dehydrates you. So, if you drink a lot or gulp down way too much coffee, then you need to put a stop to it. Limit yourself two no more than 2 pegs a day and not more than 2-4 cups of coffee a day.

Add flavor to your water

Plain water sometimes can be very boring to drink—probably not everyone’s liking but you can make your hydration routine more interesting by infusing different flavors into it like mint, lemon, orange extract, ginger extract, etc.
