Ragamala to Rockstar, Ravi Shankar

Ravi Shankar, a musician who brought traditional Indian music and instruments to Western audiences, was dubbed by George Harrison of the Beatles. This exhibition at the South Asia Institute determines his career on popular culture, bringing together over 100 pieces, including rare concert posters, pictures, films, record covers, and personal mementos. Guests may browse the collection, listen to Shankar’s music, and obtain a better understanding of his creative output and his effect on artists such as Phillip Glass and John Coltrane.

Every Friday, the South Asia Institute will provide free entrance to the exhibition.
