But these issues can also be one of the most problematic ones, even though your router is one of the most valuable technology devices you own.

New Router Won’t Connect to the Internet.


 You went to the market and bought a new router. You detach the old router, mount the new one, and obey the maker’s setup instructions. You cannot access the Internet even though you can see the new wireless network or even connect to your computer or smartphone.


  1. Disconnect the network cable (or cable) and broadband modem power you acquired from Disconnect the network cable (or cable) and broadband modem power you acquired from your Internet Service Provider, including the coaxial or DSL link, as well as all wires from the new router.
  2. Keep all disconnected and unplugged for at least a few minutes.

The CD that arrived with the router should instantly get your device to detect the new router wirelessly, but the notification pops up stating that the device cannot locate the router.


In reality, with new routers on the market that have automated setup, have this common issue. 

Attach an Ethernet cable to one of the router’s LAN ports from your device. Go to the network settings on your computer. 

Click the radio button in the TCP/IP v4 windows that open, then pick “Use the following IP address.” Under “IP address” you type an address that matches your router’s default IP address. 

You’ve got your machine on the same network as the router now.

Using an Ethernet cable, directly plug your laptop into the router and see if you can link that way. If that helps, the problem is your Wi-Fi, but your Internet is the issue if it doesn’t. 

Resetting your router will resolve many questions, and one of them is an inability to connect. 

On the back of the router, push the reset button for 30 seconds with a paper clip, and the router should return to factory settings.
