Night of the Living Dead
Fans of horror movies are going to love Night of the Living Dead. The movie revolves around a spider infestation leading to a murderous rampage. However, unlike Scream, Night of the Living Dead is not as gory as that horror classic. It does contain a few scares that may scare off your average scaredy cat.
The first scariest part of the movie is when a girl gets scared and runs into a house. She locks the door and runs up the stairs, but her feet sink into the stairs. Although there are other horrifying things to see in the film, this image is enough to scare any scaredy cat.
Edward Scissorhands
The spooky story of Edward Scissorhands is based on an isolated man who tries to enter a new community only to discover that he is a human with scissors. The film is well worth seeing for its dark cinematic style, and you may find yourself crying more than you would from fright.
The plot revolves around a man named Edward, played by Johnny Depp. He is a hermit who lives in an attic. Scissor-like hands create his scars and disfigured body. Peg and his family adopt him but soon begins to face the consequences of his spooky actions. As the film moves on, Edward can develop feelings for Peg’s daughter.
The Craft
One of the best spooky movies to watch with your girlfriends is The Craft, a teen movie about a coven of witches. When a new member joins the group, supernatural chaos follows. It will have you wanting to go out and buy some gothic ’90s fashion. It’s also a good date night choice.
If you don’t want to scare yourself, there are plenty of other spooky movies to choose from. A 1993 Disney movie, Hocus Pocus, features witches, a talking black cat, and a human skin spellbook. This film has a good cast, including Bette Midler and Sarah Jessica Parker.
Hocus Pocus 2
“Hocus Pocus” is a sequel to the 1993 spooky film that follows three teenage girls who have been part of a coven of witches. The movie takes place thirty years later, and the storyline revolves around these girls. The first film focuses on Becca Sanderson and her coven, while the second focuses on her sister, Cassie, and her friend Belissa. In this sequel, Becca, Cassie, and Belissa have grown up and have chosen the company of the cool kids.
While the first film starred a black cat named Binx, the sequel focuses on another black cat named Cobweb. Binx, the original cat, dies at the film’s end, but his replacement is named Cobweb. However, this new cat doesn’t have a speaking role.
